Paul McMullin has worked in the Medical Industry for 27 years, nearly all of which have been related to international business.  During that time he has traveled and conducted business in some 50 countries.  He has managed direct reports throughout Europe and from Japan and China. 

Paul currently works at Gen-Probe Incorporated as the Sr. Director, International Sales.   He has worked there for over 15 years, managing much of Gen-Probe’s International business actives.  During his time at Gen-Probe he has managed the distributor business worldwide.  He managed Gen-Probe France Operations until it was folded into the bioMerieux organization.  He initially created and established the Gen-Probe Direct Sales and Service organization in Europe which currently operates throughout Europe.  He chaired the Team which obtained Gen-Probe’s first CE Mark Authorization for the EU.  He oversaw the documentation for Gen-Probe obtaining its first Foreign Manufacturing Company Status for Japan.  He served on the Chugai Corporate Committee which directed the spinout of Gen-Probe as a public company and also the divesture of Gen-Probe’s sister company Chugai Diagnostics to Fujirebio in Japan.  Today Paul chairs the Global Business Expansion Team at Gen-Probe as well as directs most of the Diagnostic Distribution Business outside of the USA. 

Previous to working at Gen-Probe, Paul worked at QUIDEL Corporation of San Diego in a number of positions including Director of International Sales and Marketing, Western Regional Sales Manager (USA) and Director of Corporate Business Development.

Paul began his career working at American Hospital Supply Corporation, Scientific Products Division (eventually Baxter) where he was responsible for the Sysmex Hematology capital equipment and reagent product line, imported from Japan and sold in the USA.  He also worked for two years in the Finance/Operations group at Scientific Products.

Paul has a Masters Degree in International Management/MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) and a BS in Business Administration from Arizona State University, where he graduated Magna cum laude.  Paul has lived in Japan for two years and speaks Japanese.  Paul taught Global Leadership at California State University San Marcos as an adjunct Professor during the fall 2009 Semester.

Paul is a husband of 30 years and father of four children and one grandchild.  He is very active in his church and has been an active member in his community in coaching Little League, CYSA Soccer, and Girl’s Softball and in serving as a Board Member/Treasurer of the Mt Carmel High School Soccer and Choir Booster Clubs.

Paul has previously served two terms as an elected Board Member of the WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego from 1995 to 1998.
