Charlie Robins is the founder of  The Robins Group, Inc. a privately owned leveraged buyout firm headquartered in La Jolla, CA. The Robins Group specializes in the acquisition and development of middle market manufacturing companies, with a particular eye toward finding value in low-tech industrial companies. Charlie set up The Robins Group, Inc. for two purposes: (1) to continue providing business development advice to companies he had been serving at National City Bank in Cleveland, Ohio; and (2) to diversify the Robins family portfolio by acquiring controlling interests in established manufacturing businesses. Since its inception in 1980, The Robins Group has been involved as a principal in over forty transactions. He resigned from active participation in family businesses in 1992 now devoting 100 percent of his time to volunteer community operations.

Mr. Robins holds an honorary bachelor's of arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and was recently recognized as the first honorary alumnus of the UCSD Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies for his continued involvement with the students and the school. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of  St. Vincent de Paul Village. The Village provides services for San Diego homeless people. He is a former director of the San Diego Opera, but currently serves as an advisor on long-range financial planning. Mr. Robins is a Trustee of the University of California San Diego Foundation; co-chair of the Scripps Memorial Hospital Advisory Board. He is a director of the WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego.

Mr. Robins served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He is 78 years old and has two sons who are actively involved in the Robins family business. Charlie lives in La Jolla, CA.
