Unpaid Internship - Trade Services

Summary:

  1. Undertake market research projects as agreed upon with the Vice President of Trade Services utilizing resources available. Projects are to be completed within the agreed time. All written reports and correspondence must be proofread and checked for accuracy, spelling and grammar before submission.Examples of market research projects:

    • Develop a country brief outlining trade and cultural information on a specific country
    • Research and identify existing trade models for identifying prospective export markets
    • Identify U.S. or foreign channels of distribution of a specific product
    • Identify U.S. or foreign manufacturers for a specific product
    • Identify foreign tariff and non-tariff barriers to exporting U.S. products
  2. Communicate to members and clients about trade events relevant to them and find recent trade leads for distribution to members and clients.
  3. Assist the Vice President of Trade Services with mailings, and filing client and trade information
  4. Attend and assist with at least 4 WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego programs to increase knowledge about international trade, identify and network with prospective and current WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego clients/members.
  5. Handle incoming calls in a helpful, friendly and professional manner, asking inquirers to communicate their request in writing, taking messages, offering assistance and taking follow-up action to secure the necessary information
  6. Assist other staff at the WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego on special projects as needed
Requirements:

  • Detail oriented and able to work independently.
  • Outgoing, ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of Internet research.
